“Anyone who stops learning is old, whether at 20 or 80. Anyone who keeps learning stays young.” - Henry Ford

When the Henry Ford Estate reopens, it will be a place for teaching, learning and experiencing. We are currently researching the history and legacy of the Ford Family, and how to best tell that story through a visitor’s experience at Fair Lane.

Stories about Henry and Clara highlight creativity, experimentation, civic initiative, learning and relationships. Visitors might enjoy the sounds of Americana music – Henry’s favorite -- in the music room. Or they could venture into the library and see Clara’s desk and read her notes about women’s issues and promoting farmers. Strolling through the Jens Jensen landscape, visitors may discover creative uses of native plants. Or they could explore the Powerhouse and imagine the conversations Henry and Thomas Edison had as they tinkered in his private laboratory.

The Fords’ legacy holds many lessons still relevant today. At Fair Lane, we will share their amazing story with generations to come.
